How to Use Sign & Fill PDF: Add Text, Signature & Date

  1. Drop your PDF. The pages appear, and any fillable form fields are listed beside them.
  2. Click Signature to draw, type or upload your signature, then click on the page to place it. Add initials, the date, ticks or text the same way. Drag to move, and use the corner handle to resize.
  3. Fill in any form fields, tick "Flatten form" to lock the answers if you like, then download the signed PDF.

Sign a PDF in under a minute, without printing or uploading

Someone emails you a contract, a permission slip or a tenancy form and asks you to "sign and return". Instead of printing, signing and scanning, drop the PDF here, add your signature where it's needed and download the signed copy. It works with a mouse or trackpad, or with your finger on a phone or tablet.

Three ways to create your signature

  • Draw it with your mouse, finger or stylus (smooth pen, black or blue ink).
  • Type your name and pick a handwriting style.
  • Upload a photo of your signature on white paper. The white background is removed automatically.

Add text, dates and ticks too

Add initials, today's date (UK format, editable), ticks and free text such as your name, address or a reference number. Drag everything into place, resize it, or remove it with โœ•.

Fill in PDF forms

If the PDF has fillable fields (text boxes, checkboxes, drop-downs), they're listed next to the pages. Fill them in and they're saved into the PDF. Tick Flatten form to lock the answers.

Stays sharp and searchable

Your signature and text are added on top of the original pages, so the document stays crisp and its text is still selectable. Sideways pages are handled correctly.

Good to know

  • This adds to a PDF; it can't change words already in it.
  • Text boxes use a standard font that covers Western European letters. Other scripts are placed as a sharp image.
  • WeShoal adds a visual signature, which most everyday forms accept. Some documents need a dedicated e-signature service with identity checks, so ask the sender if unsure.
